Privacy notice
Last updated 7 November 2026.
50-Forward is run by Paul Scanlon ("we"). This notice says what personal data we hold, why, for how long, and what you can do about it. It follows the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Write to us at hello@example.com.
What we collect, and why
Members. When you join, we hold what you type into the profile form: your name, email address, where you are based, your sector, your current or most recent role, your years of experience, your skills, your qualifications and tickets, how you want to work, your rate or salary expectation (optional), your LinkedIn address (optional) and, if you upload one, your CV. We also record when you gave each consent, when your email was confirmed and when you last signed in.
We hold this so that you can be a member of the community and, only if you tick the separate box, so that we can introduce you to employers. Our lawful basis is your consent. Your rate expectation and your email address are never shown to an employer.
We never ask for your date of birth or your age.
Employers. When you send us a vacancy or a request for candidates, we hold the company name, your name, email, phone number and what you wrote, so that we can answer you. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in replying to an enquiry you made.
Newsletter. We hold your email address and the time you asked for the newsletter and confirmed it. We send nothing until you confirm by clicking the link we email you. Our lawful basis is your consent.
Technical. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, time, browser type) for 30 days, for security. Where we refuse a form submission because it looks automated, we log the reason, the IP address and the domain of any email address given, never the address itself.
Your three consents
When you join you are asked three separate questions, and each has its own tick box and its own timestamp:
- To hold your profile. This one is needed to be a member.
- To share your profile with employers (the talent pool). Optional. You can switch it on or off at any time from your profile page.
- To receive the newsletter. Optional. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
Who sees your data
Your profile is seen by you and by the site's administrators. If you have opted in to the talent pool, we may describe you to an employer who has asked for people like you, and introduce you with your agreement. We never sell data, never pass it to advertisers and never put your CV on a public link.
Our email is sent through Amazon Web Services (SES) in London. The website runs on a server in a UK data centre. Nobody else processes your data for us.
Cookies
We set one cookie, which keeps you signed in after you click your sign-in link. It holds a random token and nothing about you. We use no analytics, tracking or advertising cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
How long we keep it
- Members: for as long as you are a member. Delete your profile from your profile page and everything goes at once: the profile, the CV, your sign-in links and your newsletter entry. A record that an account once existed is kept with the email address replaced by a one-way hash.
- Employer requests: three years from the last contact, then deleted.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. A sign-up never confirmed is deleted after 14 days.
- Email log: we keep a hashed record of each email we send for 90 days, to deal with delivery problems.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, or to give it to you in a file to take elsewhere. For members, the profile page does the three big ones itself: edit, download everything as a file and delete. For anything else, email hello@example.com and we answer within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that matters, we email members before the change takes effect.
